What is your major occupation?
Kete weaving.
How long have you been weaving?
20 years.
Why did you choose kete weaving as your major occupation?
It is the only work that I know.
How did you learn the craft?
I was taught by my father and brothers.
What type(s) of kete do you weave?
Novi and nyamekwa.
Do you weave on order, or you sell the product at Agbozume market?
I do both.
If you weave on order, describe the process.
I ask the customer to buy the yarn for me and when I complete the work, I take the weaving fee.
What raw materials do you use in weaving?
Yarn: cotton and miran.
How do you acquire the yarn for kete weaving?
I buy it at Agbozume market.
Do you use the yarn kadada in weaving?
No. I do not know much about it.
What types of designs and patterns do you weave in kete?
I weave plain kete, no designs or patterns.
How popular is the kete that you weave?
They are very popular and some people around Agbozume wear them.
Have you invented any design or pattern in kete?
No.
Do you know any women weavers?
Yes, Dzifa Geli; she has been weaving for about 15 years. Also, Peace Esor who has been weaving kete for over 10 years.
Why do you think the kete industry in Agbozume and neighbouring areas has survived up till now?
Kete weaving is a major source of livelihood for the people around Agbozume areas.
